They know things I don't know
Magic they read in books, their mothers' notes

They have other secrets
Instructions pasted in scrapbooks, songs
All the words to every verse
I heard them once on the radio

Fill it with sugar water, boiled and cooled
They won't know you doubted everything
I waited by the window and they came
